Hello World

Biology at heart.
Computation by trade.
Data in between.

About

I'm Jebin, an aspiring Computational Biologist and Bioinformatician. I sit at the intersection of biology, computation, and data — asking questions that neither field could answer alone. My work spans genomic data analysis, and bioinformatics pipeline development, with a focus on turning raw biological data into reproducible, scalable insight. Fluent in Python and R for data analysis and computational research, I also bring that same precision to web development — building interfaces as thoughtfully as I build pipelines. Biology drives the questions. Computation builds the answers.

Experience

The University of Texas at Austin

Graduate Research Assistant

August 2025 - January 2026

Worked across multiple labs in computational and molecular biology. Analyzed k-mer distributions and their evolution in bacterial genomes with Dr. Ilias Georgakopoulos-Soares, using large-scale genomic data analysis on TACC (HPC) infrastructure. Investigated the role of microcins in antibacterial resistance mechanisms with Dr. Andrew Ellington, combining RNA-seq experiments with downstream data analysis. Contributed to population genomics research with Dr. Arbel Harpak.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research. Thiruvananthapuram

Project Fellow

August 2023 - June 2025

Explored the evolution of gene-strand bias in bacteria through multiple projects under Dr. Sabari Sankar Thirupathy. Built bioinformatic pipelines for genomic and ChIP-seq data analysis, followed by statistical analysis and visualization of results. Contributed to multiple research publications and conference presentations. Mentored undergraduate and graduate students on computational biology projects

Education

Integrated BS-MS (Biology)

August 2023

The program integrates two years of rigorous foundational training in theory and experiemental basic sciences. I chose biology for my masters along chemistry as minor. I did my minor thesis under Dr. R. S Swathi, in computational and theoretical chemistry. I did my Master's thesis in Biology/Computational biology under Dr. Sabari Sankar Thirupathy, studying bacterial genome evolution through computational approaches.
